Writing none stop for 5 minuets
We had an exercise on the 2nd of November and a lecture on Utility in which we were to write for 5 minutes none stop. Here is the piece of writing:
"We just had a lecture on the Festival of Britain. It was very intresting and there was something called a Skylon which was a long tubular thing that was suspended by a system of pulleys and those things rope go through- pulleys I think- and then there were like cats eyes (very long
slender tube). It could be impressive to go and see but it was taken down and the man on the video we were watching went looking for bits of it but he couldn't find it. As we suspected it had been taken down and melted for scrap and then no one ever found it. The rest of the lecture was on the practicality and utility of design. I felt I all ready knew alot about it from research."
That is a rough transalation of the 5 minute text. I found it interesting that after coming back to this bit of writing from such along time I can still understand alot of what I meant but am suprised at how I focussed on only one area that being the Skylon and how I found the shape intresting: elongated and like the middle of the eye. The 50's (the perod of utility and festival) had such a long and varied history.
We were also made to write what we thought the aims of the lecture were:

We were also made to write what we thought the aims of the lecture were:
- To get us more intrested in our project
- To reinforce our initial ideas of the subject or completely change them
- Broaden our horizons and knowledge
- To help us create a time line in our brains
- To demonstrate how other areas are relevent to our subject
- To make you listen and understand
- To illustrate the subject
- To look at the Social, Econmical, Enviromental and Personal affect that period had on us and the affect it had then
